Have you ever looked at yourself and thought why you have what you’ve got now?
Today, I’m looking at my fingers, my 10 fingers on my hands. Why are they there? Of course, physically my fingers enable me to have sensory experience on what happen around me. However, other than that, what do they really mean to me? Our fingers have been used for nonverbal communication, the psychologist said. Let’s see them one by one.
Thumb – I like it
Forefinger – I want that, I choose that
Middle finger – I hate you, let’s fight
Ring finger – I have high hope on it
Pinky finger – I swear that I will keep my promise on it
I imagine: what would happen, if I could no longer move my tongue and I only could use my fingers despite of my lack of expertise in hand sign language?
I like you (thumb). I think you might be the one, therefore I choose you to be my side and we see how thing’s going on from here (forefinger). Wow, you hurt me, I hate you (ring finger). Despite of that, I think that each of us shows our true selves. I think that is a good thing and I have high hope on us (ring finger). I really believe in us, and I promise that I will always be by your side as long as I live (pinky finger).
Suddenly I change my mind on palmistry. There might be truth among the fortune-telling bullsh*t, that the journey of our life may already be written by nature (or by force?). If that’s the case, at least I still have the freedom to choose the ‘you’ part.
